How to Find Your Top Tweet

Amidst the noise of Twitter, it can be difficult to find and analyse the progress of your social channel when it comes to engagement, quality and overall performance of Tweets.

You may be a master of hashtags, the leader of media or the emperor of engagement, but to many people, it boils down to the numbers. This is the only way we can truly learn from our history of Tweets what worked well and what wasn’t perhaps as effective as we thought - all to be able to tell the next best #SchoolStories.


Many websites and platforms will offer Twitter analytics, especially scheduling tools where it is all-in-one for your accounts. But if you want the pure, high-grade data, you will need to go right to the source… Twitter!

Here is the step by step process to accessing those insights for your school:

  1. Login to your Twitter account. We recommend using the desktop platform - better visibility.

  2. On the left hand side, in the ‘more’ button, you will find the analytics link. This will take you to the analytics dashboard.

  3. From here, you can view your top Tweet each month, along with your Top Mention, Top Follower and Top Media Tweet. All are helpful, but this kind of data only helps us when we are constantly monitoring our progress.

  4. Along the top of the scream you will see a nav bar, showing Home, Tweets, More (Videos, App Manager, Conversion Tracking), and on the other side, your account and billing information.

  5. Click on Tweets.

  6. Now you should see a graph detailing the amount of impressions of the last 28 day period. Underneath this, you will find the button for Top Tweets.

  7. Here you will find your Top Tweets over a longer period, detailing Impressions, Engagements and Engagement Rate for each Tweet.
